Sometimes, we all need to have a good, hearty laugh.
Once in a while, someone is kind enough to unintentionally give us the joy of laughter. This can be a precious gift indeed.
With that, enter fervent Hillary supporter Jill Iscoll.
In a new posting at HuffPo that was put up yesterday, Jill expresses her disappointment with historically neutral Democratic Party leaders' failure to insert themselves into the race to defend one cadidate in particular:
We need to talk. How dare the leadership of the Democratic Party turn on Hillary Clinton! How dare they betray Bill Clinton! How dare they not speak out when Hillary is disrespected by words like bitch, whore and the "c" word! How dare they allow them both to be smeared as racists, playing the race card! Where was Howard Dean ? Where was Nancy Pelosi ? Where were Hillary's colleagues in the Senate when the Clintons were being so unfairly accused and denigrated?
Because as we all know, the Democratic Party exists solely for the puropse of defending the Clintons.
The best is at the end, though. Wait for it...
Women are outraged. We are still fighting for her, and we are ashamed of how our candidate, a woman who has devoted her adult life to serving others, a woman who has been a distinguished First Lady, a woman who has helped her colleagues pass legislation and win races in their own states, a woman who has stood up for all of our rights, has been treated not just by the media but by her own Democratic Party.
Wait for it...
Throughout all this, Hillary has maintained her focus, her message and her dignity.
WAIT FOR IT...
This is truly courage under fire. This is what it takes to be a great president.
YESSSSS!!!!
Hillary Clinton, the Tigress of Tuzla, has truly shown "courage under fire". I'm not convinced though. I saw the movie Courage Under Fire with Denzel Washington and Meg Ryan, and I'm pretty sure Meg Ryan's character actually got shot at. In fact, I think she got killed.
But to be fair, Meg Ryan's character was never the subject of a critical Saturday Night Live skit, so she clearly does not posess the courage of Hillary Clinton, who braves the snipers of her own imagination. Perhaps President Obama, as a gesture at unity, ought to award Hillary the Medal of Honor, for courage under fire in Bosnia.
To tell you the truth, I want to let the primaries go, but it is so difficult to do when the other side becomes so deluded and enthralled by their own "facts" that one feels compelled to point out their ludicrousness.
