I can't resist trying to predict the interview tomorrow with Scottie and Lauer...here's my try...let's see yours.
Lauer: Scott, you have a new book out, so let's get right to it. On the Plame matter, you state that Rove and Libby appeared to meet in secret to get their stories straight, then lied to the entire world about it. How did getting hung out to dry make you feel?
Scottie: Well, Matt, there is an ongoing investigation, or civil suit filed by Valerie Plame, and I think it would be premature for us to comment now.
Lauer: But you wrote it in a book.
Scottie: Yes, but I'm not commenting on it. I would never do that.
Lauer: Well, what about the assertion that the second Bush term has lost it's way? How did that happen?
Scottie: Well, Matt, I would refer you to the original text of the comments made earlier wherein the actual response was given to that question and I think I was pretty clear.
Lauer: But I'm not sure I asked that question before?
Scottie: Matt, since September 11, we've had to deal with second terms on offense. So I can't sit here and say the term will or won't lose it's way. If I do, the terrorist win.
Lauer: Perhaps I should have asked you this in 2002, but is this war with Iraq really a good idea?
Scottie: No.
Lauer: Well, now that we're in, and you've described the Bush White House as one where dissenting opinions are thwarted and shot down, how do we know he's acting in our best interests.
Scottie: Matt, the President is, as always, of the position that evil opinions must be stopped, which is why we invaded Somalia in 1993, and the President supports continued involvement in the Golf of Tonkin until such time as we can be certain no terrorist boats will surface there.
Lauer: Can you name a mistake that you made as Press Secretary?
Scottie: A mistake? Well, clearly Al Qaeda is on the run, and we have to remain on offense and after September 11 we had to strike and fight them over there instead of overhere and had the French not made so many fries we would clearly be in a better position today than we are.
Lauer: Truly you have a dizzying intelect.
Scottie: I feel smoke rising in my spinal column...I may be experiencing a malfunction:
at which point Scottie's head explodes, and it's revealed he's a robot...and there was much rejoicing....
