Sort of a slow week when it comes to entertainment news, but before I get into all of that let's talk about the image to the right. It's one of the helicopters that serve as Marine One sitting at the Treasure Mountain Middle School in Park City, Utah. Bush was in the state fundraising, but with "lackluster" results.
According to TMZ.com in a story entitled "President Bush Can't Get It Up", the helicopter had trouble yesterday. I haven't been able to track it down to be sure, but TMZ implies it was left at the middle school overnight.
Today, the school started an hour late to avoid "anticipated traffic congestion in the area." Education all the way!
The standard warning for those of you who've never seen one of these before: If you would like to see some of the latest entertainment news, celebrity gossip and odd crap making the rounds, keep reading. However, if you are easily offended by half-nude people or other such things, you might want to stop right now.
You've been warned.
[Bill Murray Accused Of Domestic Violence]
Today in Charleston, South Carolina's The Post & Courier, it was revealed that Jennifer Butler Murray filed a divorce complaint on May 12th, accusing Bill Murray of drug addiction, abandonment, adultery and physically abusing her.
Jennifer Murray also seeks a restraining order barring Bill Murray from her Sullivan's Island home and asks the court to determine if the couple's premarital agreement is valid and enforceable.
The Murrays signed the agreement before their marriage on July 4, 1997. It stipulates that if either spouse files for divorce, both parties retain all of their separate property, waive any right to alimony or support and maintain responsibilities for their children. If the marriage is dissolved and the 23-page premarital agreement is made a part of the order, Bill Murray agrees to pay Jennifer Murray $7 million, according to a copy of the agreement accompanying the complaint.
According to the complaint, Jennifer Murray moved into a Sullivan's Island home in 2006 with the couple's four children due to her husband's "adultery, addiction to marijuana and alcohol, abusive behavior, physical abuse, sexual addictions and frequent abandonment."
Jennifer Murray purchased the Sullivan's Island beach house in 2006 for $3.65 million, according to county property records. It was at the Sullivan's Island home, according to the complaint, that Murray allegedly abused his wife in November 2007. The six-page court filing says Murray "hit his wife in the face and then told her she was 'lucky he didn't kill her.'" The complaint alleges that Murray physically abused his wife on more than one occasion during the marriage.
You can read the entire divorce filing at The Smoking Gun. The only reaction from Bill Murray has been a statement released by his attorney.
"Bill Murray is deeply saddened by the dissolution of his marriage to Jennifer. Mr. and Mrs. Murray remain loving parents, committed to the best interests of their children. Mr. Murray asks that the public respect his family's privacy at this difficult time."
[Patrick Swayze Is Doing Well]
Here a little bit of good news. Let's talk about Patrick Swayze. Whatever can be said about his acting chops, the man does have range. Who else could be in cult classics like 'Red Dawn' & 'Road House', but also have the talent to pull off 'Ghost' & 'Dirty Dancing'?
At the beginning of March, it was revealed that Swayze had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer & there were tabloid reports that he might only have 5 weeks to live. But Swayze was at the Laker game at the Staples Center last Friday, and just gave an update to People magazine, saying he's responding well to treatment.
"Thought I'd give you guys a little update. Lisa and I have been back and forth from New Mexico enjoying the arrival of spring and new baby calves. This past weekend, we spent a fun time with friends in Reno for Lisa's birthday, where I took her jewelry shopping at Kenny G & Company and (we) were able to find her something really special and much deserved! In the meantime, I am continuing treatment at Stanford and the great news is I continue to respond well."
Swayze, 55, who announced in March he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, is undergoing treatment at Stanford University Medical Center.
[Movie & Television News]
'Women In Chains!' Coming To Television?: We've gone through a period where almost everything from the past is either being remade or "reimagined" for television or film. So what will they think of next?
One of the genres of '70s exploitations flicks was the "women in prison" movies. Roger Corman & others came up with a basic formula that goes something like this: take hot women, put them in some Far-East shithole with sadistic guards, and have them eventually kill or beat the living hell out of their captors, but not before mud wrestling, bondage/torture, or a shower scene every 10 minutes.
Oh, and Pam Grier must be in the film.....
So what does this have to do with anything? According to Ain't It Cool News & confirmed by the Hollywood Reporter, Director Robert Rodriguez (who directed one of the 'Grindhouse' films with Quentin Tarantino) is shopping around a pilot script for a hour-long television series called "Women In Chains!", with the show having the same tone as the '70s flicks & starring his girlfriend.
Director Robert Rodriguez is shopping around "Women in Chains!" a violent drama set at a woman's prison starring his fiancee, Rose McGowan.
The spec script, penned by Josh Miller and Mark Fortin, has been sent to a number of networks, including NBC and FX.
McGowan is set play one of five chained women at the center of the show, which Rodriguez is expected to direct. The two first worked together on last year's "Planet Terror," Rodriguez's homage to 1970s exploitation flicks.
Given the subject matter, HBO would seem the most likely candidate for a show like this (they did "OZ" after all), but HBO already has a "women in prison" show in development (Alan Ball's American version of ITV's "Bad Girls").
The Venture Bros. - Season 3: It returns this Sunday, but here's an early sneak peek at the third season of "The Venture Bros.", where there's questions of hierarchy in the immediate aftermath of the destruction of the The Monarch's cocoon last season.
And here's the teaser for season 3, but beware, there might be a few spoilers.....

Also, I use Movieweb.com for the embedded video players usually because they have the best quality video available. However, they've started putting Google Ads in the players. I know it's a nuisance, but it's easy enough to get rid of them by clicking on the close button on the right of the player. But I'm open to suggestions. If anyone thinks the Google ads are too annoying, or knows of a better substitute, let me know.

The 100 Greatest Guitar Songs Of All Time: In the latest issue of Rolling Stone, they tackle the greatest guitar songs ever. What exactly makes a great guitar song?
This is what makes a great rock & roll guitar sound: an irresistible riff; a solo or jam that takes you higher every time you hear it; the final power chord that pins you to the wall and makes you hit "play" again and again. Every song here has those thrills. But these are rock's greatest guitar moments because of what's inside the notes: hunger, fury, despair and joy, often all at once. You hear the blues, gospel and rockabilly that came before, transormed by the need to say something new and loud, right away. Rock & roll has been the sound of independence for half a century. The guitar is still its essential, liberating voice.
You can see more by clicking on the link, but here's the Top 10......
- Chuck Berry - "Johnny B. Goode"
- The Jimi Hendrix Experience - "Purple Haze"
- Cream - "Crossroads
- The Kinks - "You Really Got Me"
- The Rolling Stones - "Brown Sugar"
- Van Halen - "Eruption"
- The Beatles - "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
- Led Zeppelin - "Stairway To Heaven"
- The Allman Brothers Band - "Statesboro Blues"
- Nirvana - "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
If I could add my own little criticism of this list as a fan of the band, one thing that stuck out to me is that you have to go down to 29 to find AC/DC, and only "Back In Black" makes it on this list.
