This morning I had the distinct pleasure of seeing both Gen. Wes Clark and Kansas Kathleen Sebelius speak at a fundraiser in Houston for Michael Skelly, a dynamic new candidate for congress from West Houston, House District 7. The fundraiser coinsides with the Windpower Houston 2008 conference so the event was well attended. Mr. Skelly is a former CEO from a very successful Wind Power company, who actually started one of his first wind farms in Kansas.
Governor Sebelius was the featured guest speaker. She has a history and record in the industry for being a very strong progressive on new energy technology. Before her remarks, she was introduced by Gen. Wesley Clark, who said roughly had the following to say:
I was recently in the UK speaking with Online Odds makers and they told me that Kathleen Sebelius is the odds on favorite to become the Vice President for Barack Obama. I can tell you, she'd make a great Vice Presidential Choice.
I don't have word for word because I didn't record it, but the praise was certain, and indicates a growing Unity in some parts.
Governor Sebelius remarks were well received. Her focus was on Wind Energy and New Energy Policy. She seems to be a sharp candidate for Veep, though my own mind is unresolved considering also other potential candidates, not the least of which is Gen. Clark himself. It certainly was fun to see two potential Veep short listers in one room.
