I have to admit that people claiming they have to vent is getting somewhat silly and tiring. I know it's been a long primary season, and I know that there are hard feelings from both sides with regards to the current state of things. However, having half-a-million diary entries with an unclear, repetitive diary title is getting tiresome. This is a political blog, 90% of the time a diary is because someone has to vent. Putting that in your title just makes it hard to figure out what the heck you are writing about in the first place.
For people who may recognize the reference, when I was in Uni, I used to spend way too much time on the SomethingAwful forums. I remember a very common phenomena there which, while at first was funny, became incredibly irritating quickly. This is the dreaded "beat a dead horse which has already been beaten into dust" joke. Ie. This is when one person does something wise or clever and everyone and their dog decides that it is clever to do EXACTLY THE SAME THING with some small spin to it. The first version of this I believe was "All your base."
Now, I understand that everyone on DailyKos shares similar values, and everyone wants to get their thoughts out in the same way. Similarly, I was perfectly fine with the original "I want to vent. Obama supporters" and "I want to vent. Clinton supporters" threads. However, at this point it is simply becoming absurd and somewhat childish.
If you want to vent about a specific issue, put the specific issue in your title, then people will know right away what you want to vent about and will be able to easily pick your diary out of the dozens that run by every day. It will be fairly obvious that you are venting, and people will understand without having this neverending supply of "I want to vent" posts flying by.
So, here I propose what I call the "Dead Horse rule". If you are the first person wants to do something clever by using the "I have to vent," (or some other similar line) in a unique way, feel free to do so. Especially if it is funny and doesn't repeat the original diaries.
If you want to take a dead horse and keep on beating it, thinking that alone is a form of humour. It will just end up filling the place with clutter and make it more difficult to filter through the crap.

However, I must note that there is one weird exception to the beating a dead horse rule, which is when so many people are beating the dead horse that it becomes funny again just from the sheer absurdity of the situation.
