As a person who has liked, admired and voted for Senator Obama, I am disturbed by some of his supporters on this site. The "slash and burn" attitude of Obama supporters has been disappointing. I am confident Senator Obama doesn't approve of the vitriole and viciousness against fellow Democrats. It started with the shots against Edwards and it was cranked up to 11 when Hillary became the only other candidate in the race.
I have waited a long time to post on this subject. I never in my life thought I would use the words narrow minded in describing DKOS readers, but some of ths nasty posts on this site have appalled me and reminded me of the ideological purity demanded by Right wing Republicans.
I never thought I would read that there will be a backlash against black officials because they had the temerity to support a candidate that was not Obama (despite the fact that Hillary had 80% black support until January of this year. Well that's what Hillary is forced to negotiate in order to drop out.
Obama and Clinton spoke Sunday night and agreed that their staffs should begin negotiations over post-primary activities. In addition to help raising money to pay off some $20 million-plus in debts, Clinton is known to want Obama to help out black officials who endorsed her and are now taking constituent heat, including, in some cases, primary challenges from people angry for someone supporting as fellow Democrat.
It's time for the ideological purists (see Nader) to enjoy Obamas victory just as I do this week, but to support all Democrats, not cheer their political demise. We are ostensibly on the same sie. Just remember the Clinton's fought for us for eight years, and Hillary is not Bill. Celebrate Obama now and get rid of the hate for fellow Democrats. Otherwise we will all be worse off in November, wishing for what could have been. Hillary is forced to negotiate
