Many Kossacks have wondered from time to time what would happen to some of the more do whacka do blogs after Obama became the Democratic nominee.
Well, we are getting are first hints. Some examples are promising and some are down right hysterical.
Over at MyDD rational thought is daring to peek its cheerful head up, speaking in hesitant tones at first, but getting stronger. alegre still diaries such subjects as Hillary climbing mountains of polished gold but hey, she hasn't submitted one yet referring to "ovaries of pearls" so there's hope. For every diary declaring "Obama is NOT the nominee" there are many others talking about progress and how to bring the party together. Shoot, even McCain is starting to get hit. If Jerome Armstrong stays sequestered long enough Mr. Beeton and Mr. Orton may actually have a blog where ideas are exchanged, not just troll ratings. A good thing.
All 15 of the posters over at Hillary is 44 are furiously typing, the fine orange dust of Cheetos and Nacho flavored Doritos sending furious puffs upwards with every bang of the keyboard. Rezko, Rezko, Rezko!!! Sinclair, Sinclair, Sinclair!! In the next day or two a photo of McCain in a shoulder length bob and soft pink paisly scarf will replace Hillary's on the masthead.
Over at No Quarter Larry "I have a tape I can't produce" Johnson is back-pedaling furiously. Good for the thighs but bad for the reputation. Rumor has it that Susan Hu's lips are being surgically removed from Larry's glutomus maximus, though look for an excuse of "bad collagen injections" at the Convention.
Over at Talk Left Jeralyn is using her noted ability to reasonably weigh evidence to state regarding Obama and Rezko (where no wrong doing on Obama's part was alleged):
Obama's failure to spot both the warning signs and clear indicators of conflicts of interest with Rezko do go to the issue of experience and judgment.
Gosh, I'd be concerned too......Norman Hsu, Tony Rodham, Hugh Rodham, etc., etc.. Nice balance there Jeralyn. Jeralyn does say that if Clinton endorses Obama she will support him. Props, as long as she doesn't bring a power drill into the rowboat.
..and finally my favorite..Taylor Marsh!!!
Yes, Taylor Marsh, the mistress of her self-named blog (also referred to as Hillary is 44 Lite) wants to be considered a LEGIT serious journalists. Give the lady some respect.
Forget that she has allowed her blog to become a partisan den of "What's Great about Hillary and why is that mean ole Obama picking on her" reasoning for the entire primary season, she wants to be SERIOUS people!!
As for her opinion of supporters of our nominee:
May 9th:
You think we are all obamabots, set on voter intimidation, sexism, and general violence against democratic ideals? Thanks, ben
Hi Ben. Until I get evidence to the contrary, my answer is a very loud and unequivocal, YES.
Best, TM
She states that she will work against McCain but will not commit to voting for Obama:
However, when I say I'll work against John McCain readers have said that means I'll vote for Barack Obama. So maybe on that I'm splitting reflections
Ms. Marsh's blog is filled with references direct and implied regarding her followers not voting for Obama..that they will go to McCain. Is it any surprise then that we find this post from Taylor gushing about being included a McCain conference call:
I'm glad that the McCain campaign has invited me in to Senator McCain's blogger calls. The New Republic was also on the line, as I'm sure were other Democratic outlets. Reporting McCain v. Obama, I hope this is just the beginning.
Alas, Ms. Marsh did express dismay that she hasn't been invited to all the parties:
Let me also state that it's been months since Obama's camp has invited me into to cover his conference calls, one in number, which is understandable. But this is the general election. When and if I get an invite I will gladly accept and bring you the details. It's the Obama's camp choice, obviously.
And what reason does Ms. Marsh give to merit our attention. Why, she's a SERIOUS journalist of course:
And, after the trashing, and providing a forum for the trashing, of the democratic nominee she can now say:
Today my traditional role as a journalist, independently involved though clearly with a Democratic slant, comes back into focus. People who don't know my work will likely be surprised. Those of you who know my work will not
and...
As I've said before, but to reiterate, I will not vote for John McCain. But let me add to this comment that I will stay neutral when reporting on the general election going forward. I'm about the policies, especially foreign policy, going forward.
Could this have anything to do with the fact that Barack Obama is the Democratic Party's nominee and the opportunistic Ms. Marsh, already experiencing an exodus of some posters, knows that soon there will not be enough hate to fill her blog pages?
She expresses the concern:
One thing I hope will eventually return is civility...
Might I also suggest a dose of reality Ms. Marsh. Your participation in lowering the level of civil discourse during this primary season is well-documented. You will not find any gain in credibility with an "Oh, never mind". No honor simply because you wish to say "Hey, that was the other me".
Perhaps its time for a cocktail and some reflection.
