I just got this e-mail from the Clinton campaign:
On Saturday, I will extend my congratulations to Senator Obama and my support for his candidacy. This has been a long and hard-fought campaign, but as I have always said, my differences with Senator Obama are small compared to the differences we have with Senator McCain and the Republicans.
I have said throughout the campaign that I would strongly support Senator Obama if he were the Democratic Party's nominee, and I intend to deliver on that promise.
After so many false alarms, she is finally dropping out. So for the first time in months, we don't have to worry about a convention floor fight. It is over.
Now I just hope that her true independent and Democratic supporters will join her and unite behind Barack Obama. I know her Operation Chaos voters won't, but they were never her supporters to begin with. I think most of them are Democrats who were going to vote democratic in the general election anyway. If Hillary works on convincing her hardcore supporters, maybe most of them will be on board as well.
Time heals some wounds, and I hope that's the case for the sake of the Democratic Party.
