I just splashed and gave the DNC $100 for their efforts this election season. As you may have seen today, Senator Obama praised the work that Howard Dean has done there and wants him to continue for another term. He's also set down new rules about PAC and lobbyist money.Things are moving in the right direction for the party and the nation as long as we have leadership like this. I gave $20 to a DNC person on the street in New York some months ago, and I'm upping the ante now. The stakes are very high.
This is more than just a plea for money. I don't think money alone solves the problems that face us. Communication, teamwork, and a commitment to supporting Democratic ideals begins the process and sees it through. Kos is a network of relatively like-minded and committed people, and we've seen the Obama campaign tap into that same energy via web-based networking that supports on the ground organization. It's the new era of politics, and it's people powered.
The DNC's new site format is basically just a direct copy of the Obama model (sorry McSame, they had his support in doing so). Head over, join the network, join some groups, make some calls, have some meetings, and use these tools to make the 2008 campaign a blowout for the Democratic Party. Continue using them well into the future to make sure we hold onto our ideals and our advantage.
My $100 goes to that cause and my place in the newon-line network does as well. Friend me over there and let's start doing this together.

UPDATE 1: In the comments section, I see that a similar diary did over $7000 yesterday. Let's set our goal today at $10,000 and see where it heads. Matching the $7000 total from yesterday would be our next best option. Rec this list and watch for updates. One note, I live in Japan and I'll be sleeping as this donation occurs for the most part. If someone wants to help with a running tally in the comments section, I'll try to update the main diary as I can. Go Go Go!!!
UPDATE 2: It seems as though we're around $665.01 as of 7:30am EST on Friday. That's not bad for the first 6 hours of this diary, considering most of you were asleep. Quick. Rec me to stay on the agenda for the day. I'm melting....melting....oh, what a world....what a world....
