The AP is reporting that the global warming bill will die in the Senate today.
Democrats and Republicans are pointing fingers at each other as to who is to blame.
McConnell accused Reid of refusing to give the issue a full airing. "If this is the most important issue facing the planet, it is ludicrous to think we're going to do this in four days with no amendments," he complained.
"You can't have a more important issue to be dealing with on the floor of the Senate," Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., told reporters. Instead, he said, the deliberations had been "reduced to trickery and gimmicks and parliamentary games."
Here's my thought:
This tough global warming bill was a bill that neither McCain nor Obama wanted to vote on. It would have had dramatic effects on the economy.
So McCain and Obama worked together to kill the bill, and everyone is happy.
Kind of makes you wonder if either McCain or Obama would be really willing to make the tough choices that will be needed to combat global warming
