Noriega says We cannot drill our way out of our energy problems. We cannot solely rely on piece-meal transitional measures like drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. read entire article
I'm pretty sure that this is not a surprise to anyone. I just found some Questions and Answers on the Chronicle Blog and I wanted everyone to see another contrast between these two candidates and why this race is as important as any in the country.
Please support Rick as he will have one more week on active duty coming up. go to my Act Blue page

Here is the entire question and answer excerpt on the drilling which starts with a question on the windfall profits tax
- Should there be a windfall profits tax on U.S. energy companies. And should we explore for oil in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge and on the outer continental shelf?
The five biggest oil companies in the world made $36 billion in profits in the first three months of this year. If they continue at this rate, they are set to make $144 billion in profits by the end of the year. These companies were set to make profits when oil was at $65 per barrel, but with the price of crude breaking $130 per barrel, they are now enjoying record-breaking windfall profits.
For years renewable energy has remained a fringe option because this administration and incumbents in Congress remain beholden to the lobbying power of the oil companies. We need investment in renewable energy technology to make it viable on a large scale, and to make it a more stable and potent source of energy. We need an environment in which investing in renewable energy is incentivized.
We cannot drill our way out of our energy problems. We cannot solely rely on piece-meal transitional measures like drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. We need to make a commitment to renewable energy now for the energy independence for future generations. Our national security depends on it.
Compare this to Cornyn who believes in just the opposite. link to his website article on climate change
Here is probably the most hypocritical comment and lip service I've ever heard on the environment "There's no one among us who does not care about the environment. I don't know any person of goodwill alive who doesn’t care about the quality of the air we breathe and the cleanliness of the water that we drink. But to say that no member of the United States Senate can offer an amendment unless the Majority Leader gives the green light...is not a demonstration, from my perspective, of a desire to have an open debate," Sen. Cornyn said today.
Now, this is really about transparency in government. Cornyn received 700k + from the Oil and Gas industry in the past year. link to open secrets page
Noriega cannot compete with someone who has received 45,900k from Exxon MObile. A good chunk of Noriega's money comes from Act Blue. Let's continue that trend. Help me reach my goal.
If you contribute on my page tonight to Vivian Figures , Alabama Senate Candidate, I will match what you give to Rick Noriega. I have already given out about $100 bucks on this pledge and will commit to a couple hundred more.
