In these times of ever increasing food shortages worldwide, I was stunned to see that US grain reserves were being sold off, leaving the US with less than 3 million bushels. That's enough for 1/2 a loaf a bread per person only.
This Article I found linked from the great Boing Boing website details the actions of a government owned company proposing the selling off of 90% of the US grain reserves.

I don't know if this is as big a problem as it seems, but it certainly doesn't make sense to me to sell off 90% of it.
