First, After years of watching this congress stumble about to aviod doing anything about Bush. I began to wonder if an Ad Hoc group of citizens from different countries might not be able to push this toward the Hague.
I have today emailed The International Crimes Court, the ICC the following.
"Dear Sirs,
How would a citizen of the United States bring charges against his Government for war crimes?
What would be the procedure? I would cite the articles of impeachment that have just been brought to bear against this administration. This articles have been read into the congressional record of the U.S. House of Representatives and now hold legal weight.
Sincerely,
Lance M..."
Anyone that would like to help in anyway and perhaps provide legal assistance please give a yell. I think if we construct a large enough international "coalition of the willing" to use this administration's own terms we might be able to force the issue.
Second,
Endgame Endgame is what I term the possible transistion of power from the Bush Admin to the new administration.
My question is, will the transference of power really happen?
We know the Administration knows that it is looking at charges levied against it when it leaves office.
If not Bush, Cheney knows it.
Would this Adminstration so willingly give up the reins of power it currently holds?
Lets face it, with all the excecutive orders Bush has in place, it is a small matter to declare martial law. Likely if it were to happen. It would occur under the guise of an economic disaster.
Meaning, when Bush attacks Iran and oil jumps to 200 dollars a barrel, gas would then go to 10-15 dollars. In response, the American economy grinds to a halt and food skyrockets out of sight.
Under this scenario (and several others) it would be fairly easy to declare martial law and suspend elections. The situation has historic precident, lets face it the majority of the troops are deployed overseas bush has engough private contractors at his disposal to do his bidding.
The situation is somewhat akin to Rome. Mercenary troops were in Rome, the Legion off and fighting foreign wars and a select group of loyal troops were able to enforce Caesar's will. Thus a dictator was born.
Could the same thing happen here?
Is that why Cheney is pushing the attack on Iran so hard? He knows what the Iranian response would be to an attack, flood the straits of Hormuz with mines and block the flow of of oil through it. Result would be international chaos, and an excellent cover to declare martial law. This Admin has shown it can use Orwellian doublespeak to its advantage so it wouldnt call it outright what it is doing, it would develop some wonderful catchphrase to avoid calling it "martial law". Something like..."Enhanced Law Enforcement Levels" Anything to make it less like what it really is.
I really hope nothing like this happens. That this Administration is just to stupid to start "Endgame". That Endgame remains just a theory.
But I would certainly be much more comfortable if the articles of impeachment get acted upon, and in doing so a clear sign is sent to this administration that the end for it is coming.
