Today's diary isn't something deep, meaningful or serious; it's merely a bit of video fun for the weekend.
Many of you may be familiar with Stephen Colbert's "Green Screen Challenge" contests, in which he invites technically-savvy viewers to download footage (often of himself) taken in front of a greenscreen background. With various video and/or compositing software, you can digitally key out the background and add your own footage -- home movie videos, found footage, or 3D graphics.
It's a popular feature on The Colbert Report, and a week ago, when he offered the "Make McCain More Interesting" Green Screen Challenge, I couldn't pass it up. Since I'm a professional 3D graphics artist (and science fiction fan), I whipped up a quick and dirty 3D background, added music and sound effects, and here's the result:
I submitted this entry to The Colbert Report last Sunday afternoon, but so far, haven't seen it either on his website or the TV show itself. So, I posted it to YouTube.
