I just know there has to be some golf fans here that need a break from talking politics.
Watching the final round of the Open with my father created some of my fondest memories. Only really secondary to the hundreds of rounds of golf we played over the years. He was over Thursday and Friday helping me around the house and sitting on the couch with him watching the first couple rounds brought back a lot of memories.
Lets talk golf below the fold ....
It wasn't even until recently, as I near 40, that my father and I have become close (that is a long story). We just don't have a lot in common. But one thing we did have in common was a love of golf. I took my first swing before I could walk. They'd eventually spend tens of thousands of dollars on equipment, green fees, and lessons.
I mean heck, for most of my life I thought I would be playing in the Open. But alas when I got to college on a Division I scholarship and had the opportunity to play with the best young golfers in the nation it was clear although I was good, really good. The best of the best were playing a game I wasn't familiar with.
Now I don't play daily I don't watch as much golf as I used to. I will even admit at times it can be like watching paint dry. Just the four majors generally speaking, cause I think par should be a good score and some of the courses these folks play they get to more than 20 under over four rounds. That isn't "golf" IMHO.
So with that said my knowledge of all the players isn't what it once was, but I just hope somebody can beat Tiger. I mean I really respect the guy. He is a stud. And he has done a lot to grow the game. I just get a little tried of hearing about him 24/7 and I like to cheer for the underdog.
