Here's the bad news.
Facing an $11.6 million budget shortfall, organizers of the Democratic National Convention are cutting events while hoping Barack Obama's emergence as the likely presidential nominee will spur his vast army of donors to pony up.
The AP is headlining this, for all the world to see!
The convention opens on Aug. 25, giving the committee just 10 weeks to come up with the money.
That's our cue! We've got 10 weeks. There's 161,000 of us.
If every person here, regardless of their bonds, or twitchy reluctance to support the DNC, gave just an extra $10 bucks, right now, we could cut into this debt very quickly.
This is our party. This is our time. This is our chance to overcome the monied interests that dote on the Republicans and give them a huge advantage in fund raising.
We must support the DNC with more than lip service. We need to dig a little deeper, find a few bucks, and help Howard with the 50 State Strategy. That is the only way we can insure that we expend every effort to Get Out the Vote for Barack, and those critical down ticket races that will allow us to challenge the Congress Critters, of all stripe, who refuse to honor the Constitution, or the wishes and needs of the citizens of this country.
There is no time left for waffling. There is no hope of putting it off for awhile. You can't sit back and be comfortable with your lack of information on the differences between the DCCC, (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee), and the DNC, the primary party building apparatus, now under the control of Barack Obama.
This is the moment. This is YOUR moment.
Go to the link. Right now. Drop a few bucks on the DNC and show your support for the New and Improved Democratic National Committee.
So says Granny...

Oh, and Rec this damned nagging diary so everyone has a chance to see it - else Granny will come and eat your dinner!
UPDATE
As several people have pointed out the article referenced refers to the City of Denver not providing the funds they promised. Unfortunately, the media is casting this as a Howard Dean failure. In order to show a significant bump in fund raising for the Party, which will be viewed as an Obama Bump, we have to boost the fund raising for the DNC. This is trench warfare.
