Here is the ad and subsequent diary. (I would have embedded the ad here for this diary but I don't have the technological skill. Ask my daughters, I drive them crazy asking questions about our DVD player).
The ad was brilliant. I am glad that someone is taking the war issue directly to the Moms. And to the Dads. I know, I know. Some are going to say that the baby was exploited.
I disagree. Wholeheartedly.
War is not nice. There is something about the smell of a dead human being that stays in your gut and wrenches at your heart for the rest of your life. I know.
I have never fought in a war but I've seen one pretty close up. I wrote briefly about some of my childhood experiences here. I didn't want to rehash it now so I included a link in case anyone was interested.
The bottom line is that I love my daughters just that much that I don't want them to ever have to participate in a war...let alone an unjust war that is making some wealthy beyond belief.
So if an ad from MoveOn makes someone really think about whose lives they are affecting when they think about war, declare war, wage war, or finance those who make money off war, all the power to them.
They won't take my daughters either, MoveOn ad Mom. No way, no how.
Do you have a son or daughter who may be of draft age? Have they just graduated from high school? Do you want to make sure they will be able to live their lives? Be happy? Do you want your children to outlive you?
The Objector.
Conscientious Objector information.
The reality is that if McCain gets elected the possibilty of more wars becomes very real. I am not going to hand my children over to him.
For any reason.
