At about 12:40pm CDT today, I heard Rush Limbaugh say "...why are they trying to get Obama, I mean Osama, killed?"
A little context. I went out to grab some lunch, and when Ed Schultz went to commercial, I flipped the radio over to Limbaugh's show (we all need to monitor the bad guys!).
Limbaugh was talking about habeas corpus and wondering why liberals are so concerned about the presumption of innocence, and if so, why Democrats approve of hunting down Osama bin Laden.
Ignoring the obvious fact that the courts are distinctly different from law enforcement efforts to prosecute, the main thrust of my concern is that he actually said:
"If liberals are so concerned about presumed innocence, then why are they trying to get Obama, I mean Osama, killed?" -- [Note, this is not an exact quote, it is from memory over the past 1/2 hour as I was fuming about the comment. I have tried my best to get it verbatim, but even if I didn't, I certainly captured the spirit as well as the intent. Someone with more resources and time can and should hunt down the exact transcript and/or get the sound file.]
The worst offense, in my mind, is that there was an extremely l-o-n-g pause (for emphaisis methinks?) between him saying Obama and his correction. It certainly felt as if it was completely planned rather than being a simple mistake.
VIGILANCE, PEOPLE! How often is this occurring? We need to police this since it seems that no one else is!
