The lead Republican incumbent Collins has held over Democrat Tom Allen continues to degrade. According to Rasmussen, in April, the lead was 16. In May, it was 10. Now the June poll has the lead down to 7. At present the poll is:
Collins 49
Allen 42

Allen currently represents half of the state, but gave up his house seat to run against Collins for senate. Last year, most of us had Maine as one of our most promising races for a pick-up, but many have moved it to a lower tier. It may not be top tier now, but that is because other races have gotten stronger and stronger for Democrats--not because of weakness here.
This new poll is encouraging. Allen is running smart and raising money well. He will be a strong progressive voice in the Senate. Collins is just a Bush supporter. Seven points behind a 12-year incumbent in June is damn good. And Allen has room to grow. At present, he only leads among Democrats by 72-24.
Go TOM ALLEN!!
