I had trouble deciding whether or not to even write this because I don't want to give this the free coverage the group wants it to get, but the McCain campaign must denounce this or suffer the consequences of being associated with it.
The conservative swift boaters are at it again. The National Campaign Fund sent out an email to supporters today titled "Was Barack Obama Muslim?" in an attempt to promote a bigoted smear ad they produced about a week ago and released on the internet. The email was authored by Bruce Hawkins of the National Campaign Fund and ExposeObama.com. What is shocking the the ties they have to the McCain campaign. The National Campaign Fund operates the site HelpJohnMcCain.com, featuring McCain's name, pictures, and portals to donate to his campaign. What is more unconscionable that this ad is that John McCain allows them to sport his brand in their spreading of hate.
Even if you don't read to the bottowm, please rec this diary and take the time to contact the McCain campaign and call on them to 1) denounce the ad, email, and website and 2) force the National Campaign Fund to remove McCain's picture and name from their website. The McCain Campaign MUST do something about this.
Just when I think I've seen it all, something like this comes along. Human Events, a conservative periodical, has sent out an email to subscribers titled "Was Barack Obama a Muslim?" The email is pathetic and reprehensible, with underhanded insinuations of Obama being a manchurian candidate.
Is Barack Hussein Obama side-stepping questions about his Muslim childhood?
And if so... WHY?
Pivotal questions come to mind:
is there more information -- as of yet undisclosed -- that Obama thinks the American people would find repugnant?
if he is side-stepping questions, is it because he REALLY believes that the patriotic people of America are all GUN-TOTIN', BIBLE-THUMPIN' bigots and thus incapable of understanding the full-and-complete TRUTH?
and perhaps the most important question is, WHY DO the liberal media and other assorted Obamaniacs, scramble about and circle the wagons around Barack Hussein Obama EVERY SINGLE TIME QUESTIONS ABOUT HIM ARE RAISED?
First of all, this gives NO evidence of anything, only hurtful fear mongering questions full of insinuation and innuendo. But doesn't necessarily surprise me given the group's history. What does surprise me are the links the authors of the email and corresponding attack ad have with the McCain campaign. The ad was featured on dKos before. The email and ad were authored by ExposeObama.com, a website run by the National Campaign Fund (the group responsible for the infamous Willy Horton ad). The National Campaign Fund is also the proprietor of HelpJohnMcCain.com, which uses McCain's name and provides direct links to donation portals for his campaign. John McCain must call for the National Campaign Fund to revoke this ad or otherwise tell them to take his name and picture off of the website. This is objectionable on two levels. 1) It is simply untrue, but 2) if it were, the whole group employs heavily anti-Muslim overtones of bigotry and racism.
That's about as much of the email as I want to put on there, but please rec this diary and send an email, letter, or phone call to the McCain campaign calling on them to 1) denounce the ad and email and 2) request that John McCain's name and picture be removed from the group's website.
