In my opinion, the politicians from the Democratic party do not take the netroots seriously except as a source of money & nothing more.
We are important till they time they win the elections, after that, we don't matter.
The netroots needs to set an example on how we can not only prop up a democrat, but also bring him/her down. We came very close to it with Lieberman. But Lamont was too weak a candidate.
Does anyone have any suggestions for who to set an example with?
We can't do it in this Pres Elections. It's really really important to get a democrat into the White House. I am not an idealist. I never believed that Obama was all that he claimed to be - but he is a reasonably strong candidate & he can get us back the White House. And he will be a billion times better than Bush & McCain.
Pelosi's primaries are over. Sheehan may run against her in the election as independant, but I doubt if she could bring down Pelosi, however hard we try. Sheehan has no qualifications, whatsoever.
It's too late to primary Steny. Is it possible to bring him down in the 2008 house election? Very very difficult. The Libertarian party candidate is pretty unknown, but she says exactly all the things I would expect a good Democrat to say
Darlene Nicholas
Her campaign to win the 5th Congressional District seat will focus on:
Eliminating the intrusive Patriot Act
Bringing our sons and daughters home from Iraq
Protecting our civil liberties
The netroots has to prove it's strength this year - but I have no idea how?
