It is now official and there is a part three. It is case number S164520 and is in the Supreme Court. It is an urgent matter because the Court has to rule by August 8, 2008. The ruling is quick because the ballot goes to the printer on August 11, 2008.
So the position, first publicized by Log Cabin Repubicans is now a part of the marrriage agenda. This truly must be a new area. Either they listend to Schwarzenegger's Post-Partisian speech and believed it or EQCA and LCR drank from the same Kool-Aid bowl.
I, however, believe that they did something right for the community.
The articles on the issue
"Stop The Initiative"
was written by one of their leaders.
A shorter verion of it was even on their blog on May 21, 2008
"BLOG CABIN".
LA Weekly called them "the Queer Enablers of Gay Marriage."
"QUEER ENABLERS OF GAY MARRIAGE"
I am beginning that they are living up to that reputation.
And now, for some reason, I feel a great weight (GUILT?). That weight comes from the fact that, in the past, I have used, "self-loathing" to catagorize them as being hateful and homophobic.
In some other Blog it was stated that they have not made their decision yet on John McCain.
I am just trying to understand what is playing out in California.
Sure, I have said that they sleep with the enemy before but now that rings hollow. I can use all the cliches I want but on this issue they made a substantive difference.
I still disagree with them on most of their other issues, but I have gained a new respect for them in the past month.
The good news is that now I would consider dating one (I AM BITING MY TONGUE ON THAT). I mean, Maria sleeps with Arnold (even though the both of them without make-up frIghtens me).
We cOuld not have gotten this far without the votes of three "R" Supreme Court Justices.
Maybe Nixon was the only one who could go to China (Is this the correct statement?) And maybe Log Cabin Republicans (like it or not) are The Queer Enablers of Gay Marriage."
