This is in light of the fact that not only could I not get anyone to commit to a June Blogathon, I was also unable to think of anything fresh and new myself to write on regarding New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Region.
Besides this, lately I haven't felt up to writing on the subject. I've felt burned out. And I find my own lack of good ideas and passion far more frustrating and discouraging than not being able to sign other people up.
So I've decided to temporarily put the NOLA/Gulf Blogathons on summer hiatus for June, July and early August.
However, for Wed. Aug. 27 through Fri. Aug. 29, I would like to schedule a major Blogathon for the 3-year anniversary of Katrina and the federal flood. I hope that between the renewed media interest that will come out of this anniversary and the fact that, as my NOLA friend said in effect, hurricane season will have revved up by then, more people will be interested in participating--enough for this to be a 3-day Blogathon.
This is not to say that before then I won't be writing on NOLA--which I will, if I see anything new in the news that bugs me. I just don't want to post "summer repeats." And I'm planning diaries on other things--I'm long overdue for an update on personal stuff, and I'll also post light diaries such as this, now that I know how to post pics from Photobucket.
Back to the 3-day Katrina Anniversary Blogathon--I will be posting a recruitment diary in the first two weeks of August. For now, here's a poll:
