I just heard Mara Liasson's report on NPR at 6:15 central time. She had a focus group of 12 swing voters. Seven of them said they voted for Clinton, five had not. She asked them about the race.
One man, named Charles Fassano, said he voted for Clinton and there was nothing the Clinton's could say to change his mind to vote for Obama. He blatantly, obviously, said "Osama, I mean Obama" and said that he knew Obama came from a Muslim family, didn't put his hand on his heart, all of the typical smears.
Listen for the story. I am contacting NPR to see how their editors could let such statements get on the air, when the person who said them was clearly lying. This should not stand.
UPDATE:
I know that plenty of people out there, including some Clinton supporters, believed the stories about Obama. I am not advocating that contrary viewpoints be banned. However, I think stories like this and focus groups in the media can be easily manipulated by plants and should be treated carefully.
I do not know that the person in question was a plant or a McCain fan in disguise, but he sure sounded like it. The mispronouncing "Obama" sounds incredibly fake at the beginning of the story.
