When I got home to the final edition of the Miami Herald yesterday, I found our party in full color and it got me thinking. If MoveOn's Hungry for Change Bake Sales could bring out such a solid grass-roots wave of support for our progressive values on the hot pavement of 700 different American cities, what could we do here with our fellow Kossacks?
Some sort of coordinated event would demand a bit of brainstorming, so let's dive in.
1.What kind of event would get Kogs mobilized for local action?
The Bake Sale was cool, but I wonder if we would get more effect from pins or stickers or tee-shirts.
2. What message would we want to seed our individual necks of the woods with?
Daily Kos is built with so many different types of virtual brick that I don't quite know what particular focal points would draw in the most participants for a physical event.
3. Do we go all out campaigning for Barack Obama?
To me, the White House is key to all the things we want to accomplish. It is our time, and we can't let it slip away.
4. If yes, do we go negative?
Personally, I feel that this election could swing on John McCain's infidelity with his first wife.
5. How far in advance should we plan?
The MoveOn thing only had two weeks between the original email host invitations and the actual event. It could have been a bit longer, but it worked.
6. If we raise money, where should it go?
Would we be best served by starting a fundraising page on the Obama website, or starting something seperate?
You can add more questions, you can link to previous efforts of this kind, you can have fun with it. I was just wondering if we could catch this wave and ride it for more.
