I have never been so disillusioned so quickly by a candidate. I will now look to 2012 for a true leader with courage and convictions that represent me.
When I listened to Obama speak, I thought he was truly inspirational. I thought he was bringing hope and courage to the party and would rise to lead this nation forward from years of corporate led policies. Now when he had a chance to stand up and lead, he is taking the easy way out to appease those interests he once appeared to be ready to stand up to.
I was wary of Obama's lack of a footprint in the couple of years he served in the Senate. I let it slide understanding that he was new and it takes time to rustle enough clout to deal with the many personas that make up the Senate. Now Obama has been chosen to be the face of the Democrat Party, he has the clout and is in position to campaign while leading in the Senate. So when he had the opportunity to step up and lead in the FISA situation, he faltered and lacked the courage to take the action he so proudly claimed he would.
When he had the opportunity to stand in the face of campaign finance reform, and do what he said he would do. He instead took the route that was easiest and claimed the system to be broken. Broken? I call that sour grapes. So again, Obama lacked the convictions to become President, through action.
It is rare to see a candidate, break campaign promises, even before the first vote is cast. But Obama has clearly demonstrated that anything he says is just rhetoric and he by no means intends to become a person of hope, instead he is just a harbinger of more of the same.
We have seen leader after leader of the Democratic Party falter, while the true persons of character and courage have been relegated into minor roles and kept in the background.
I will cast my vote in the battle ground state of Pennsylvania in a different direction.
