For some time now, I've been expecting to read about some mah-valous scientific discoveries in the nano-tech field. You know, super-science.
I've been waiting.
Waiting.
Still waiting.
Oh, looky here, maybe the waiting is about over?
Now, this is what should be all over the front pages and on the talking head shows.
The possibilities are endless.
Nanobots, or Nanites, or whatever they eventually end up being called in the mass media may be the cure for, well, just about everything.
Oil spill? Disperse Nanos with embedded instructions to capture oil, then move to designated coordinates on the global grid. The captured oil can be re-claimed after the Nanos return with their 'cargo'.
Disease? Inject or orally ingest Nanos with instructions to target specified cells in a specified area of the body. After they complete their 'mission', the Nanos can be eliminated from the body like any other matter.
Impending natural disaster? Nanos dispersed into an area at risk of an earthquake, with instructions to attach to specific materials (i.e., concrete) to stabilize and secure buildings, bridges, levees and highways. With most of our national infrastructure over 40 years old, this method of 're-building' would be the least invasive, most ecological and faster than any other conventional method.
You name the problem, there is likely a use Nanos can be applied to.
I am amazed at what modern science can achieve. I look forward to hearing more on this subject.
