There's been a good bit of hand-wringing lately about Obama's recent moves, mainly about FISA but also about Clark's comments.
We've had the usual people swearing off Obama forever, claiming he's a traitor, "blah blah blah McCain points" crap.
But even more annoying are the people who somehow think it's necessary to chastise those disappointed in Obama's moves, lumping all those criticizing Obama into the "cut off the nose to spite the face" group.
How about you all fucking relax and realize what's going on here?
We went through an extended primary, basically a horrifying civil war.
We fought and clawed our way to having a candidate.
We demonized our opposition while glorifying our candidate.
We believed, we hoped, we yearned.
And we were disappointed. More than once.
Such is the nature of politics, and the vast majority of people on this site know that.
Human nature is rife with extremes. Many of Obama's supporters were rabidly pro-Obama, dedicated to the point of mania at times. Any slight against Obama was a call to war, any attack on Obama was a reason to fume.
Disappointment when so dedicated will always cause a shift in the extremes, will nearly always guarantee an over-reaction.
Guess what? Tempers cool, people relax and see reason, nothing is as bad as it seems.
Yes, the hand-wringing and craziness about Obama's recent moves is grating, is annoying.
Even more grating, even MORE annoying, however, is the hand-wringing about the hand-wringing.
Let people vent. Let them bitch and moan. Let them curse Obama from the mountaintops down to the canyons.
The vast majority are simply dealing with disappointment by yelling.
They'll be back. They'll still support Obama.
Preaching to them only makes you look silly.
And I say this as the idiot who wrote this diary.
