There seems to be a lot of weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth over Obama around here lately. A lot of statements to the effect of "well, if that's the stance he's going to take on (insert outrage du jour), then he's not getting any more of my money or time". So, I'm just sort of curious.
Which progressive candidate for President will you be giving money too?
I ask this because I'm assuming there is another one running that I haven't heard of. And I'm assuming it is someone who actually has a chance of being President in Nov., someone who will be in a position to actually help get a progressive agenda through Congress. Not someone who will work to block and frustrate real progress and reform at every turn, like the candidate from the other major party will, someone who will at one stroke render moot most of the gains we hope to make with things like the Orange to Blue list.
If the choice in November is still going to come down to Obama and McCain, if there isn't another viable progressive candidate out there, then I just don't understand the rationale for not supporting Obama to the fullest limits of our abilities and means. While we might not get everything we hope for with President Obama, no one should be under any illusions at to what we will get with President McCain.
