I was busy for a week teaching a compressed summer course and came back to find Daily Kos, including Kos himself, off the deep end.

Understand this is a rant directed at a position not any persons so please take it in that spirit but take its point seriously.

Tell me you are kidding.

You actually believe that we should now abandon Obama because he doesn't agree with you on ONE issue?!?!?!? And that one issue is his statement on the FISA bill???

My god you people have lost your minds if you really think this is justification to hand the presidency to the Republicans and yes, encouraging people to abandon Obama only helps McCain.

You act like Obama has destroyed civilization as we know it. Your anger on FISA should be directed at Pelosi, Reed, & Company not Obama. It was the Democratic Congressional leadership that backed Obama into an impossible corner. You can argue the merits of the bill all you want but I see very little of you all doing that here. I am totally against violations of the law and of our freedoms which I have fought for for years, but you are not being remotely realistic if you think that you won't support someone who doesn't agree with you 100%. Even if you could somehow argue that the FISA bill is THE most important issue of our time, you still can't rationally abandon Obama for his statements on the bill.

And don't paint anyone who disagrees with you with the "you think Obama can do no wrong" nonsense. That's just childish, stupid, and wrong.

Here's a clue: You want to stop Bush's spying programs (including the ones that aren't known yet? Then elect Obama and those programs will stop. Because you can be damn sure McCain will continue those programs, and that's just the tip of the iceberg on reasons why we should support Obama over McCain.

So get off the sanctimony box and grow up!

UPDATE:  For those of you who fell for the right-wing spin and think Obama condemned Clark's comments read this:

UPDATE 2 :  let me guess that this diary won't be "rescued"  LOL! Thanks all for the great comments!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
