John McCain, 72-year old big oil panderer and war hawk, came out with a new energy plan today, and let's just say that it has two familiar themes: pandering to oil producers and threats to middle eastern countries.
The story: McCain Unveils New Energy Proposals
“My friends, we know that we must dramatically increase our domestic production of oil, and I know that I am the one candidate in this race with the experience to make this a reality,” McCain said. “While we bow down to foreign regimes setting outrageous prices on oil exports, we ignore a vast reserve of petroleum that we have in our own lands...”
In the event that this plan did not fully meet US oil needs, McCain assured the audience he had a backup plan, one that he suggested would involve some pointed discussions with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Of course, he also included a mention of drilling for oil here on domestic lands and in our protected shores, which really goes to show you just how much of a "green" candidate he is. But the true worry is this continual sabre-rattling towards Iran and other governments.
I guess for someone who wants to be in Iraq for another 100 years, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise.
