Hi there. My name is Richard Jensen and this is my first diary for The Daily Kos.
What you need to know about me are these facts.
I live in Southern Oregon.
I work in Hospitality, where exactly I will not name. (Not that my employers would object to my postings but my opinions are my own and I see no need to cause them unnecessary grief.)
I have two MySpace pages. One personal and one for filmmaking.
And of course, the big reason I am here is I am a life long liberal democrat. Which means I live in a state of perpetual aggravation.
An aggravation I try to deal with by videoblogging or as the young people call it, vlogging.
Since February of this year, I have been doing a biweekly web series called "News from the Front" that I post on YouTube, MySpace and Funny or Die. Originally, it was meant to be a homemade "Daily Show" but in the last few months, it's become something decidedly more angry and partisan.
Now I'm not going to lie. I'm starting to post here because I would like to try to gain a larger audience for my stuff. (I'd love to start getting paid for doing this.) But there's also another reason I'm posting here.
I'm tired.
I'm tired of waking up in the afternoon (I work nights.) and finding this lovely world of ours get one step closer to turning into a police state/charnel house hybrid. And I want to do what I can to help with the struggle. And I like to think what I bring to the party is a good sense of humor, some common sense, and some skills with iMovie.
Now I should point out that in these webshows, I do use snippets of other things I've found on YouTube, newscasts mostly. But I think I'm all right under fair use. If I'm wrong on this, please let me know and I will take this diary down post haste.
In the meantime, here's my June 1st show as a sample.
Comments are welcome and if this is out of line, please let me know.
