Congress must act now.
Think Progress reports that Karl Rove has left the country just before he was scheduled to testify before the House Judiciary Committee.
Rove skips out.
The Committee voted 7-1 to reject his claim of executive privilege. Rep. Sanchez indicates that the Committee will take up contempt proceedings no earlier than the end of the month.
I believe that's a mistake. The Committee, and the full Congress must vote on contempt now.
This is not the first subpoena that Rove has ignored. He did it before. To date, nothing happened with regard to that subpoena (nothing of consequence since he did it again). Doesn't that tell Congress something?
I'd like to think so. Rove is going to thumb his nose at Congress as long as it lets him. I will not mince words; Rove is a pussy. He has committed treasonous acts (in my opinion) and he has been hiding behind the skirts of the likes of Lindsey Graham and David Drier. The only reason a pussy like Rove has been able to get away with being such a pussy, is that the Democratic leadership in Congress has been collectively acting like a bigger pussy.
I get the impression that Linda Sanchez is not particularly happy with the way things are going, and she is being held back by the leadership (cough, Conyers, Emmanuel). You hear that guys? I think Linda Sanchez has bigger stones than you do.
So what can the Democrats do about this? I think that Karl Rove has made a big mistake when he went on the lam. He's scared and desperate. Scared and desperate people make big mistakes. It's time to take advantage of that mistake.
The Committee should move the issue of contempt to the full body as soon as possible, and get a vote. Hold Karl Rove in contempt, and order the Sergeant at Arms to arrest him. Now that Karl is out of the country, there are only so many places where he can re-enter the country. If he does, and there is a warrant outstanding, it would be a serious Constitutional crisis if ICE failed to hold him upon re-entry.
I also believe that if that happened, Karl, pussy that he is, would not come back. In other words, he would remain a fugitive, just as Benedict Arnold did.
Traitor!!!!!
There would be no amount of spinning that would protect Karl. Sure, he could still go on Fox News by satellite, but how would that make Fox News look? Not good.
Now is the time. There has never been a better opportunity to deal with the reprehensible waste of protoplasm that is Karl Rove. Contact your representative (I will be contacing my totally ineffecutal senior back-bencher, Susan Davis for whatever good it will do), and tell him or her to push for an immediate vote on contempt for Rove, and upon a vote in favor, an arrest warrant directed to the Sergeant at Arms.
Good night all.
