Doug Tudor recently received some national media exposure for opposing the Democratic compromise on FISA.  Tudor's statement:

"On five occasions during my Navy career, I raised my hand and affirmed 'to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.' Members of Congress take a similar oath. I believe that those members who voted in favor of HR 6304 did so in violation of their oath of office. I would have voted against this bill."

Blue America rewarded him with a donation.  But Tudor needs more help, as he is running against Telco donation magnet and Republican elitist Adam Putnam (Putnam received $12,500 from the telecoms this year).  But it's time to get the word out about Doug Tudor and give him the netroots support he needs.

Tudor worked for three top Generals, according to his bio:

In January 2002, Master Chief Tudor was selected to serve as the Flagwriter for U.S. Army General Tommy R. Franks; Commander in Chief, U.S. Central Command. In April 2002, he graduated from the United States Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy in Montgomery, Alabama. In July 2003, U.S. Army General John P. Abizaid assumed the helm at U.S. Central Command, and Master Chief Tudor stayed in place as his Flagwriter. He was advanced to his current rank on October 16, 2004. In March 2007, United States Navy Admiral William J. Fallon assumed command of U.S. Central Command and retained Master Chief Tudor as his Flagwriter. Master Chief Tudor completed his Executive Juris Doctorate from Concord University School of Law in July 2007, and he retired from active duty on February 29, 2008.

And yet he has no problem defending the constitution instead of cowering to the "weak on terror" brand that Democrats are so afraid of.

In addition to FISA, Doug is an unashamed progressive candidate.  You can learn more about him from his website, and you can CONTRIBUTE NOW to help defeat one of the vilest Republicans in the House!  FL-12 has more registered Democrats than Republicans, but has been ignored by the party for years.  It also has a high concentration of veterans, who will obviously be receptive to Tudor.  It has a Cook Index of R +5, but the grassroots here is EXTREMELY organized.  This district is winnable this year with netroots support!

Thanks for your help!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Doug is a great candidate! (0+ / 0-)

I don't live in his district but close enough and I would love to see him oust Putnam. He is the first serious candidate against this guy in a long time. He could win this year simply because people here are hurting from the economy and tired of the war.

    Yay Doug!
