"There is no short term solution," Bush said. "The president doesn't have a magic wand. You can't just say, 'Low gas.'"
"I readily concede it won't produce a barrel of oil tomorrow, but it will reverse the psychology," Bush told a White House news conference in regards to reversing his father’s ban on offshore drilling.
It just doesn't get more Oedipal than this...
Well, I suppose Dub would have us believe the president does have a magic psychoanalytical cigar that he can wave to change an entire nation's "psychology"... but sometimes a cigar really is a Big Dick (Cheney), and drilling doesn’t have anything to do with oil.
I will be waiting today to see if the press calls bullshit on the White House's attempt to chain America to its version of the psychiatrist's couch... the bare steel mattress springs hooked up to the 12 volt car battery, administering shock after economic shock until they achieve the "clean slate" upon which to write oil company doctrine and propaganda for years to come. (Thanks to Naomi Klein for enlightening me through her great book The Shock Doctrine)
