Just announced live on Lou Dobbs (Please don't ask me what I was doing watching Lou Dobbs) that Dr. Phil "Americans are whiners" Gramm will step down as McCain's Chief economic adviser.
Glad this fool is gone. Hopefully McCain will follow suit!
UPDATE1:
Gramm's official statement:
It is clear to me that Democrats want to attack me rather than debate Senator McCain on important economic issues facing the country. That kind of distraction hurts not only Senator McCain’s ability to present concrete programs to deal with the country’s problems, it hurts the country. To end this distraction and get on with the real debate, I hereby step down as Co-Chair of the McCain Campaign and join the growing number of rank-and-file McCain supporters.
UPDATE2:
Obama responds:
The question for McCain is "whether he will continue to keep the economic plan that Gramm authored and that represents a continuation of the polices that have failed American families for the last eight years."
Sorry for the short diary, I'll update as details leak out, but I thought I'd mention it.
Did you guys know that Phil Gramm was McCains first choice to be Treasury Secretary? omg....
My nephews in high-school would do a better job of advising McCain on the ecomony than Dr. Phil "Mental Recession" Gramm. For some reason I really cannot stand him!! Why?
And then there's his shady past:
http://en.wikipedia.org/...
Gramm was one of five co-sponsors of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000, which critics blame for permitting the Enron scandal to occur. At the time, Gramm's wife was on Enron's board of directors.
Gramm first became involved in funding porn in 1973, when his brother-in-law, George Caton, told him about an low-budget soft-core production called "Truck Stop Women." A promo poster for the film boasted of its buxom stars: "No Rig Was Too Big For Them To Handle." Caton, who was in charge of fundraising for the production, asked Gramm to become an investor. To entice his brother-in-law, Caton showed him scenes of Playboy Playmate of the year Claudia Jennings displaying her bare essentials, (she is naked throughout much of the film).
What to say huh?
And boy, let me spare you the details of his escapades on UBS's board....
ok. nuff said.
On a different note: I really can't wait to see "Dark Knight" tonight....
anyone seen it yet?
