Someone who's seen the changes of the 20th century up close, who saw society overtly treat women and blacks as 2nd-class citizens in her lifetime, endorses the black candidate (who happens to be 25 years younger) over the white guy.
Sure, it might not be an endorsement from the president of AARP, or some other prominent aging white woman, but I find something heartening about this statement.
Maybe it's just cuz she's my grandma.
