[UPDATED WITH VIDEO AT THE END]
Joe Lieberman appeared on Fox News Sunday and all but said that he would speak at the Republican National Convention if he were to be asked.
His answer was beyond comical, it was a disgusting lie he told in stating that he would not attack Obama (something he has done countless times already, putting the lie to his statement) but simply tout the glorious John McCain.
Chris Wallace asked him the question in the context of him losing his leadership positions in the Democratic Caucus by speaking at the RNC.
The transcript of that question is below the fold. To sum it up, Joe doesn't give a shit if he loses anything from the Democratic Party, he's simply serving McCain no matter the consequences.
Senator Reid, are you awake yet?
WALLACE: Real quickly, are you going to speak at the Republican convention?
LIEBERMAN: I don't know yet.
WALLACE: If you're asked, will you?
LIEBERMAN: If John asks me and he thinks I can help him, because I believe — this is no ordinary time, no ordinary election. John McCain is no ordinary candidate. I want to help him.
I'm not going to attack Barack Obama. I'm going to go to explain why I, as an independent Democrat, am supporting John McCain, hoping that I can convince other independents and Democrats to join me in choosing the man who is clearly more ready to be the president America needs today.
WALLACE: Even if that means Senate Democrats would kick you out of their caucus?
LIEBERMAN: Well, I'm following the model of John McCain. I'm going to do what I think is right for the country and not worry about the politics. And John McCain is definitely right for the country as our next president.
WALLACE: Senator Lieberman, Senator Bayh, we want to thank you both. We could have talked a lot more. Safe travels on the campaign trail to both of you.
LIEBERMAN: Thank you.
BAYH: Thank you, Chris.
Here is the full transcript.
I don't have the video yet but if you can find it, it's worth watching as Joe basically loses his temper with Evan freakin Bayh of all people who did a damn good job of advocating for Obama. Lieberman straight up said that Obama was seeking a loss in Iraq and Bayh would not have anything to do with that, even ignoring setting aside for a moment Chris Wallace's question on the VP Obama's international trip to go back and further put Liberman's lie on the record.
I'm no fan of Evan Bayh but he did a damn good job against Lieberman on Fox News Sunday and we now have it on record that Joe Lieberman does not care one single bit what he loses if he speaks at the Republican National Convention.
I don't think the fact that he doesn't care about the Democratic Party or his position in it is news to most of us. But maybe Senator Reid can start paying attention now that Lieberman has straight up told him on national tv.

[UPDATE 2]
And here's some of the rest of the debate, watch for the 1:06 moment to get a good belly laugh at Joe losing it and not knowing what to do because he's caught in his own lies. Again, I'm giving props to Evan Bayh, a politician I've often criticized in the past, but I think he did a very good job on Obama's behalf in this appearance against the measly mouthed Lieberman.
