The story is already done. Senator Obama arrived in Baghdad on Sunday, met with Petraeus and Ryan Crocker, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq, in Baghdad on Monday, and he left earlier today after securing support from the Iraqi Prime Minister on the withdrawal timetable.
And the GOP know he's in Iraq. John McCain himself said "He's just received his first briefing ever from Gen. Petraeus. And he declared his policy towards Iraq before he left".
So we're all agreed that Barack Obama definitely was in Iraq?
More, below the fold.
Here's the GOP.com website from this morning.
The date at top-right is the date on my computer. It agrees with what the date is in GOP-land. July 23, 2008. Yet look below the 'Pump' ad (which sounds like a film Phil Gramm would have made after 'Truck Stop Women').
DAYS SINCE BARACK OBAMA VISITED IRAQ: 925 Days, 01 hours, 07 Minutes, 00 Seconds.
Even though the worldwide and domestic news outlets have been full of the details.
Even though McCain knew all about Obama's meeting with the General in Iraq.
Even after a Republican strategist who occasionally provides advice to the McCain campaign emailed, simply, "we're fucked" (after Prime Minister Maliki said that Obama's plan for Iraq was the one he wanted too).
Ned Flanders in The Simpsons put it best. "I wish we lived in a place more like the America of yesteryear that only exists in the brains of us Republicans...". A place where Barack Obama hasn't been to Iraq for 925 days. Even though that's been all they can obsess about.
I think the link at the very bottom left sums it all up perfectly: You Can't Make This Up!
