There are times when the knowledge is out there; sitting on a shelf collecting dust, hiding in plain sight. It's there for anyone to find, but everyone thinks that they already know the truth and so . . .no one looks.
Oh, a few people are out there banging the drum and trumpeting the truth, But too many others either just don't care or have a strong bias against that truth and create a lot of doubt. It threatens their world view.
If that truth requires an extra effort to find and understand, it can sit on the shelf for a long long time, the layer of dust serving as a reminder that some things in life can't just be handed out. We must work for them in order to have them. Let me share one of those truths with you today:
Scientifically speaking, psychic ability has been proven to exist. More specifically, there are a mountain of studies going back literally a hundred years and when you accumulate all the evidence and sort through it, what you find is that the results, when taken as a whole, are unequivocal.
If you want to share this truth with me, you'll have to read a few books. The subject is complicated and the facts are detailed. There are a lot of objections to the evidence and they all have to be dealt with individually. The path to the truth here is not a quick jog into wide open meadow, but a slow and ponderous climb up the mountain. Here are three books that basically outline the subject: The Conscious Universe by Dean Radin, PH.D., Entangled Minds also by Dean Radin and here's a layman's book on quantum physics that will help you understand that this is possible: The Quantum Enigma by Bruce Rosenblum and Fred Kuttner.
If you just skim this subject, (such as relying on wikipedia) without getting heavily into the details you'll be one confused puppy. Two reasons why. First, for every advancement made in understanding psychic ability, there are five skeptics looking for flaws. While that's not necessarily a bad thing, it does mean that all of the skeptical arguments have to be dealt with and proven wrong. Too many people accept the arguments of skeptics without digging deeper to see if they're valid. It leaves room for people to believe what they want to. Second, while psychic ability is certainly provable, the studies are not especially easy to perform. No study has been devised that can be performed in any High School.
If you study the science in depth, you'll be convinced. If you don't, well, that's your problem . . .or not, depending on whether you care. Oh, and study some quantum physics while you're at it. It will prove to you that nothing about the structure of the universe prohibits psychic ability from existing. And if you think there's actually some connection between the two, you'll have something in common with a lot of distinguished scientists.
The story of the scientific study of parapsychology is fascinating stuff. In and of itself, it's a fascinating review of how a group mindset can completely trump scientific facts.
In my next post I'm going to discuss the ramifications of a world where psychic ability exists.
