Each day WTOP Radio here in Washington interviews a different person for their perspective on the news. Normally I skip listening on Thursdays because that is Brit Hume's day to enlighten us. But today I thought: "I'm going to listen just to see what pro-McCain crap he'll be throwing at us." I was pleasantly surprised to hear this exchange:
Announcer: "We heard rumors that McCain was going to steal Obama's thunder by announcing his choice for VP candidate this week. What have you heard?"
Answer below the fold....
...to which Hume replied:
"Well, it turns out that McCain has not yet made a decision on who his candidate will be. But ya know, McCain is so out of it that he might still make that announcement anyway, before he knows who it will be"
with guffaws from both sides. Amazing. I think McCain is on his way out. And by the way, Hume and McCain have something in common: both have had their inputs rejected for not meeting standards. McCain's, of course, was the NYT Op Ed piece. For Hume, it's Wikipedia which states:

Everyone knows that Hume is FOX Noise's Washington Managing Editor. But I was uninformed about other aspects of his history. For example, did you know that his son, a reporter for The Hill, committed suicide 10 year ago? Since I never watch FOX, I didn't know that in February of this year he claimed that FDR had proposed similar privatization of social security as had Bush, a claim promptly disproven by our friends at Media Matters and by Olbermann. On the positive side, he was placed under CIA surveillance after revealing classified documents which showed that the Nixon admininistration was tilting towards Pakistan over India.
I will never forget his public reaction after the horrible terrorist attacks on the London railway system:
Oh great, the first thing I'm going to do is buy stocks since the market is dropping.
So, in the context of a man who has been a Republican apologist for many years, when he starts mocking McCain, I think the gig is up.
