Today the IOC banned Iraq from taking part in the Summer Olympics in Beijing.
The reasoning is due to improper committees and lack of quorums for meetings that will prevent 7 Iraqi athletes from taking part in the games.

This is a travesty of Justice and and an unfair infringement of the Iraqis rights to take part in the Games.
The notion of corruption is astounding, considering the number of countries lead by strongmen who put cronies in every position possible, but receive no penalty. For those who may not be aware of things, there is a little war going in certain parts of the country and a cohesive government is trying to be formed as we speak
For what is an important and very symbolic measure, we cannot exclude Iraq from taking part in World events. This very bureaucratic decision is based upon minutiae that has no real world meaning.
If we are so concerned about corruption, why are the Olympics taking part in China? A country with massive human rights violations and oligarchic system.
Anybody, everybody. Do something for Iraq. This is not pro or anti war, this is not about Obama or McCain. It is about the sports and the sake of a country we are very much responsible for.
