I am missing something here.
An American citizen who is now running for President goes abroad and is enthusiastically received. Crowds come out to see him an we back home can see the obvious looks of joy emanating from the pictures. What problem could Americans have with an articulate, clear, Presidential looking, intelligent man representing us in the world?
More after jump:
American flags are flying and held up high by foreigners and crowds are totalled in the high thousands. Leaders appear pleased to meet this Presidential candidate and to even endorse his canditacy. We wake up this morning to pictures and headlines all over the world about the great feat this candidate has achieved. The world does not appear to hate Americans afterall. Apparently the world has a problem with the American in power and his policies. Who knew!!!
The world needs us to lead again and it looks like they would like this new candidate to be the one. Here in the USA the press seems to be putting out the meme that this is not good for us and there might be a backlash to said candidate because of said positive outpouring.
What is wrong with this picture? I am very confused.
Are we as a country in this world alone? Do we exist in a vacum? Where does this antipathy and indifference toward the world come from?
Have we forgotten the outpouring from the world on 9/11 and even after Katrina? What is the problem? Did people really listen to Obama's speech or are they so inclined to criticize and bemoan his canditacy that they are not really hearing what he is saying. Why the disconnect?
Would those that criticize Obama and his trip not be happy McCain was received in the same way? Are you telling me republicans would be unhappy if McCain drew a crowd of 200,000 anywhere in Europe? Why can't they acknowledge success of another and still show how their policies differ without being mean, disingenuous and downright vindictive?
I would also like to find out if McCain was blocked from visiting the troops when he went on his world tour a few months ago. I am sure if Obama had and 'R' behind his name the republicans would be very happy and we would be overwhelmed by positive media about his campaign.
But no! Just because Obama has had a positive trip with no gaffes they have to find something to take him down with.
(SEE Huff Post article about media, McCain and republicans fair, balanced coverage here):
The Barbeque Media Wants Senator Obama To Win? That's Rich.

Now we are hearing about how Obama does not care about the troops cause he did not visit them when in fact he was stopped. And how come the media has not covered the fact that Obama was told no support was going to be given to him by the State dept; the fact that the foreign workers were not allowed to go to see his speech but all of a sudden they are making a big deal of a snafu caused by the Pentagon when they stopped Obama from visiting the troops.
I really think that the administration and McCain worked together to put blocks in front of Obama especially after those pics with the troops came out from Afghanistan and Iraq. They do not have anything real to bring down Obama and his trip with so they are now making shit up! They want to continue the meme that Obama is unpatriotic just like they want to continue the meme that he is 'presumptuous'.
I tell you there is something amiss here and the media is continuing to be an arm of this administration and McCain. However, Obama is standing in the light and he has prayer surrounding him and their plots will soon be seen for what they are: desparate attempts to steal the Presidency again.
We must be vigilant and not be deterred from our goal, which is to get Obama elected. Let them continue to swirl in the mud. We have an election to win.
