I know this is ot for this site but there are so many of you that know how to work the system for the good. Does anyone have a real solution to this problem?
I am in a battle with Comcast. I know this is not a new story but I don't know what to do. I can't just cancel my service and go to Verizon because they don't even offer dsl on my street muchless FIOS. I can't do Sat for TV without cutting down 2 -3 100+ you oak trees.
I called Comcast in April trying to find a way to lower my monthy bill (then at $118). The only way to possibly lower it would be to add the phone service. I was willing to do this if I could keep my home number. It has been our home number for over 15 years. This was not going to be possible.
At the time I verified every part of my account and what the rates were. Surprise! My rates went up 50%, yes 50% in June. Comcast is now refusing to make any adjustment or give me a better deal unless I switch my phone service over to them. They say I was on a special plan and that it expired and they don't have to give me any better deal unless I change.
I spent over an hour on the phone yesterday and was eventually switched to what was supposed to be a supervisor but go figure, the extension was not a valid number. I tried again today. Same song and dance. This time they said they could put a message in for a supervisor to call me but it would take 24 to 48 hours, I figure this means most likely never. I request that a formal note be put on my account that this request was made and that I insist on a return call by end of business today. She basically refused saying she could but then she would be required...and so on.
I lost it at this point. I again requested more strongly and consistently that the note be put on the account and that I was sure my attorney would follow up if I did not receive a call back. She said that was nice but since I brought up "lawyer" that no one would be calling me back and I could call the legal department. The call ended with a couple of expletives to the effect of f*#k Comcast. I know dumb.
I know I could have handled this a LOT better but I literally spent over 3 hours on the phone yesterday trying to downgrade service on a line for my church and this comcast mess.
