If you watch a lot of TV, you'll find that, according to the heads you find talking there, an awful lot of things are good for McCain.
For example, these are good for McCain:
•GOP Senator Ted Stevens has just been indicted on multiple counts of corruption. This is good for McCain.
•Obama has led in virtually every national poll since June, by scores ranging from 12% to 1%. Why isn't Obama leading by more? This is good for McCain.
•Obama's composite lead in the national polls (pollster.com) is only 47.2-41.6. Why, that's not even six full points! This is very good for McCain!
•Obama spoke eloquently to 200,000 screaming, flag waving Berliners while McCain held forth to a few reporters in front of the Sausage Haus after earlier demonstrating his expertise on bread and cheese. This is extremely good for McCain.
•Obama has raised tons of cash on the internets, but McCain is slowly but surely learning to get online. This is, of course, good for McCain.
•Obama is young, smart, savvy, and really, really cool. McCain is old, out of touch, cranky, and, well, sort of experienced. This is so exceptionally good for McCain that he's paying for ads to highlight these facts.
•Obama's positions have remained remarkably consistent, while McCain has flipflopped so wildly that his campaign is disowning many of his statements—and with youtube.com, we know all about it. This kind of creative flexibility is good for McCain.
•Obama has refused to accept money from lobbyists and despite this has a whole lot more cash on hand. McCain's campaign is run by lobbyists whom he has, at different times, banned or welcomed back into his campaign. Another flexible position that's good for McCain.
•Obama has run a clean, tough, honest campaign focusing on the issues and showing repeatedly how little McCain has to offer in terms of solutions. McCain's campaign is compelling a once-fawning media to use words like "untrue" "scurrilous," "baloney," [and—breaking—"in the gutter"], causing GOP advisors outside his campaign to cringe. This is, [as dansac assures us in a recc'd diary], unusually good for McCain.
•Obama's ground game is state of the art, while McCain's ground game trails even in his own state. Gotta conceed this is good for McCain
•Obama is establishing a consistent edge in states like Ohio and Florida, which McCain absolutely must win. Since McCain's once formidable lead in Florida is eroding steadily, but slowly, this is good for McCain.
Update: Arizona is becoming a swing state in the general election. This is excellent news for McCain.
Omigosh, with so much that's good for McCain, I guess we all need to get together and work harder for Obama.
