I've just made my next bi-weekly contribution to the Obama campaign. Now that we're in the last hundred days of this interminable campaign season, I think it's really important for those of us who can do so, to dig deep again for the end of this month. And to keep on doing so until this is over.
Please donate what you can.
I'm sure many of you have already received Obama's recent e-mail, but I'll quote briefly from it anyway:
Once again, everyone will be sizing up this campaign to see if we can compete with John McCain and the Republican National Committee.
Your hard work and generosity have gotten us this far, but the fact remains, our opponents still have a big fundraising advantage. They are very good at raking in huge donations, especially from Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs.
That's why we need to show the strength of our grassroots movement before tomorrow's deadline. Help prove that a campaign powered by people like you, giving only what they can afford, can go toe-to-toe with the Republican fundraising machine.
I don't personally think Obama's the perfect progressive. That's not what this is about. This is about this man below and his friends doing this to us for the last eight years:
It is astonishing to me that there still so many so-called "independent" voters who still have doubts about this election. AFAIC, Independent is a euphemism for refusing to stand for anything except your own selfish needs. Whichever candidate appears to cater to your own narrow interests more nakedly (Yeah! Let's start drilling for oil again! That'll show those arabs!) or acts more like a high school bully (look at McCain's "Celebrity" ad) makes the biggest impression on 'independent' voters.
I hope more of us can go ahead and make an important July donation to Obama's campaign. Barack needs our cash to go on and continue on the offensive and make his case to the American people. Obama is also collaborating with the DNC to strengthen our national effort. The numbers are beginning to turn around. But we need more.
And, most of all, we need someone to go into the White House and start cleaning out that Augean Stable of corruption:
(h/t to HighAcidity)
Frankly, I don't expect a lot in that area either. But without a Democrat in the White House next year, history will never know the full extent of the crimes the current administration has committed. This isn't just about throwing guys in jail. It's about historical accountability. Even though Obama compromised on FISA, can you imagine Obama, a Con Law professor, just sweeping all of this crap under the rug? I seriously doubt it. I can guarantee you McCain certainly would.
Please Give What You Can. Even five bucks is important.
This man really, really hates you... in fact, he hates all of us, as do the scumbags in his campaign and in his Party...
This is my heartfelt plea. Please help. The rest of the world is BEGGING us. Look at the 200,000 Germans waving our flag and begging us for help. The whole world is begging us to end this nightmare.
Please help. We all have a chance to invest is making our country better. Our poor broken country needs us. It's up to us to stop the Republicans from destroying America as we know it. We have a chance to do something unprecedented to break the power of Big Money in politics. We must do it together.
Instead of feeling powerless, we can do this together and multiply our power by millions.
Obama is counting on us.
