Skewed pens
challenging cuneiform
and the 'i' for an 'i'
before the cursive takes hold.
The writing,
Is more important than the written.
Thee before thou,
But always before she.
Mine before yours,
Subject to theirs.
A language
Lacking a possessive
And flailing to possess.
Should it surprise?
Our nation is born of blood,
Expanded through blood,
Seeks diplomacy through blood,
Accepts blood
As the seal of our writing,
While leaving the truths to be written.
But the written,
Our rebellious possession,
Transmute timelines.
