Hi all! I'm jlms qkw, living in Sugarhouse in Salt Lake City, Utah.
I'm pretty sure I was the only Utahn at Netroots Nation and would love to be proven wrong.
I'm interesting in meeting other Utahns and perhaps organizing a bit. Looking at what we can do together.
One of the things we could do: a Crandall Canyon Anniversary Blogathon.
Progressive folks in Utah can be hard to find. Salt Lake City - Park City - Price - Moab - Ogden. Certain neighborhoods are better than others. The state republicans have done a good job redistricting at the national (Congress) level and state house level to keep us under-represented.
Here are a few places to find progressive in Utah:
Salt Lake Drinking Liberally
This week there won't be a normal meet-up at the Piper Down - but we will be having a BBQ on Sunday to celebrate the third year of the Salt Lake chapter of Drinking Liberally! It's hard to believe it's been three years. We've had a lot of great discussions and a lot of great speakers over the years, and our momentum only seems to be growing.
So come celebrate with us at a BBQ on Sunday, August 3rd from 4:00pm onward at Heather and Jeremiah's house (214 W 600 N - look for the green picket fence and the under-construction park strip on the north side of 6th North).
Happy Birthday Salt Lake Drinking Liberally!
Jewish Community Center
My kids went to preschool here and still go to afterschool and summer activities. The bumper stickers are all pretty liberal. There are fans of Nick Kristof!
Barack Obama in Utah
I am trying really hard to believe in the 50-state strategy and I am going to explore this site a bit more. I see there is voter registration downtown on Thursday night.
Utah Democratic Party
Here is the official party site. There's a new neighborhood program. Hmmm.
Utah Peace
These folks host parades and rallies, I think.
Help me find Utahns! The rare, endangered progressive Utahns need to band together! If you're not one but know one, let me know!
