In case you've missed today's Reuters article, Mama Hilton isn't too pleased with John McCain's advert comparing Barack Obama to her daughter, Paris.
But, buried in an otherwise meaningless article about the matriarch of the Hilton family was this important gem:
Hilton and her husband, a scion of the Hilton hotel chain, donated $4,600 to McCain's November White House bid.
That's right, unsurprisingly McCain is the recipient of the largesse of the Hilton family. And this is a point that the Obama camp needs to highlight. Obama's surrogates should demand that McCain return his campaign contributions from the Hilton's to bring attention to his hypocrisy, but also for a more important reason--to illustrate that McCain is dead wrong (pun intended) when it comes to the estate tax.
John McCain will let Paris Hilton receive her family's considerable estate at a tax rate of just 15%--substantially less than what the average wage-earner pays on money which they earn through wages and other ordinary income. Its not right at a time when the average worker is seeing their cost of living explode while their share of the national debt increases in part do the costs of the on-going war to allow folks like the Hiltons to get off so easily.
If you think the current generation of "celebutantes" is annoying, wait until you see what the next generation will look like under McCain's estate tax plan.
