As most of us, i was greatly unhappy with Sen. Clinton during the primaries and at the time disgusted by the thought of her anywhere near Obama and his administration. Now, times have changed.
Back in March-April i was a strong - if not the strongest - opponent to Sen. Clinton as Obama's Veep. Then at the end of June i had become indifferent of the prospectus of her getting the VP spot. Today, however, much to dismay from a lot of my friends, I back her 100% and i hope Obama picks her.
Yes, there were some (mildly put) grudges between them during the primaries. Yes, she (some of her supporters) caused a bit of a raucus when exiting (or lack thereof) the race. BUT.
This election is too important for non-Liebermanesque differences.
I do think that Sen. Clinton now brings more to the table than she "takes away". As some purple states are starting to turn redder, as the Republicans continue to shamelessly go on with the "character assassination" tactics on Obama, we need an attack dog.
I hate to use the expression because it is so vague, but the "middle class" voters... blue labor... Reagan democrats... call them whatever, but they seem to be buying McCain's proposterous not so subtle hints and messages. I would just love to see Sen. Clinton go into those rural states with a bat and see what she comes out with. That's also why i don't think Sen. Bayh would be the ultimate Veep choice for Obama as he seems to be, dare i say, too nice and too friendly.
I know a lot of folks here think that Sen. Obama picking Sen. Clinton would offset the whole Change factor with her being a well-recognized face in "Washington"... and maybe that is true but at the same time, this election is too important to mess around with. Obama/Clinton could mobilize unfathomable amount of voters and I would like to see these two work together as i think we'd have a good chance of having a Democrat in office 'til 2024.
PS. What to do about Bill. I have attached below, a link to an article written by Caryl Rivers and she basically brings up the point I agree with... Send him out to West Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina... he'll get the votes.
